Thirteen-year-old Jessica Grabher for VCS out skated a strong defensive line of Cathy Aragi and Christine Miles to score the game's first goal.
Merchant's Bank goalie Tiffany Clark was able to keep the puck out of the net until Wendy Hull blasted a shot into the back of the net with 10 minutes remaining in the second period to put VCS up 2-0.
Feeling the pressure, Merchant's Bank's Amy Bryan won the face off and dominated the puck, skating in to face guest goalie Steve Murphy. Murphy successfuly deflected Bryan's first shot, but let his guard down and the Merchant's superstar caught her own rebound and slipped it passed him to pull the team within a goal.
In the third period, the tough VCS defensive line of Barbara Coleman, Barbara Price and Nancy Jean Henry were difficult to break through and it appeared as though VCS would hold on to win the game.
At the final buzzer though Carissa Warren connected with a wrister to the inner left of the net to even the score at 2-2.
