MANCHESTER - The Manchester Parks and Recreation Department has scheduled a number of events throughout the fall.

On Saturday, Sept. 28, Family Movie Night will be held in the park house activity room from 5-7:30 p.m.

The movie this month will be "Gnomeo and Juliet" featuring James McAvoy, Emily Blunt, and Michael Cain.

There will be activities before the movie for kids of all ages to match the theme of the night. Concessions will also be offered for sale. Seats will be provided, but those who attend may bring their own if they so desire.

This event is free and open to all ages. Children 12 and up may be dropped off.

The parks and recreation department is also reviving the 100 Mile Run/Walk Club. Over the course of nine months, walk or run 100 miles and earn a free t-shirt to mark the accomplishment.

Every participant that completes all 100 miles will enjoy a pool party at the Rec Park Pool in June.

Those who would like to participate may pick up their mile log at the Dana L. Thompson Memorial Park House and keep track. Rec Park staff can suggest walk/run paths in the area if needed. This program is free and open to all ages.

Fall passport to MPR

The Manchester Parks and Recreation Department is offering passports for the fall season.

Participants who get their passport stamped with 10 out of the 15 activities by Nov. 25 will earn a prize (to be picked up at the park house.)

Activities include seeing games on Applejack Field, running or walking around the park mile-loop, and much more. The fee is $10 per passport and the program is open to all ages. There is a one prize per passport limit.

Star gazing

On Oct. 5 the Manchester Parks and Recreation Department will be holding a star gazing program with Bill Muench from 6-7:30 p.m. The program will be held outdoors on the open fields at Dana L. Thompson Memorial Park.

Seating will be provided but those planning to attend may bring their own if they so desire. Those planning to attend should bring warm clothing and a blanket to the park house activity room.

The event is free and open to all ages.
