In Division II, Burr and Burton Academy has four first-team all-state lacrosse players heading into its semifinal. Seniors Kate Montague and Cara Corvino, along with sophomore Hayley Sabol and Ryder Ferrone represent the Bulldogs.

Morgan Bazyk, one of the team's leading scorers, was chosen on the second team, as were Brianna Brockett and Lauren Miskovsky. Honorable mentions went to Katy Jones, Brinn Dilworth and Morgan Crabtree.

Arlington soccer camp

ARLINGTON -- The 36th annual John Werner soccer camp will take place from July 22-26 for players from first to seventh grade. The camp goes from 9 a.m. to noon every day at the Fisher Elementary School fields.

Camp stuff includes Werner, the winningest boys soccer coach in Vermont history. Current Arlington coaches Mike Keough and Todd Wilkins, along with Arlington players will also attend.

The cost is $90 per child and $60 for each additional child. Each player is to bring a ball, shin guards and a water bottle every day. Soccer balls can be ordered for $15 with a registration.

BENNINGTON -- The Southern Vermont Storm football team is seeking players and volunteers for coaching.

They are also looking for people who may be interested in helping out at home games at Applejack Field in Manchester.

World class soccer school starts in July

SHAFTSBURY -- The World Class Soccer School returns to Shaftsbury for another summer, running July 8-12 at Howard Park.

The week-long camp, run by former MAU soccer star and current University of South Carolina head coach Shelley (Addison) Smith, teaches players ages 5-12 about the fundamentals of the game, working closely with their coach and camp directors.

At the end of the week, there is a World Cup parade and tournament play throughout the day.

Smith, the 2011 Southeastern Conference coach of the year, has led her team to five straight NCAA appearances and two SEC titles.

Olympic Day soon

BENNINGTON -- Olympic Day will take place on June 23 and local Olympic Nordic skier Andy Newell will be in the area as part of the effort to promote fitness and well-being.

The event will take place at Willow Park from 9 to 11:30 a.m.

Kids 15 and under and participants can create their own Olympic medals and get a photo with Newell, who has competed in the 2006 and 2010 Olympics.
