STRATTON - Stratton Mountain School has announced the hiring of Sam Tarrant as the head coach for the SMS Freestyle Program. He will join newly hired Deb Newson, the freestyle program director.

Tarrant spent the past five years at Killington Mountain School, most recently as the freestyle head coach, where he was responsible for athlete management, coordinating travel, and designing short and long-term planning for the freestyle team. He also served as the social media and brand management coordinator where he increased program visibility through the use of social media tools, collaborated on a new website and created the current marketing strategies. Sam graduated from Southern New Hampshire University with both a bachelor's degree and a master's degree in business administration.

"With Sam Tarrant joining SMS Freestyle as head coach, the program is staged for success," said Deb Newson, SMS freestyle program director. "Sam has coached the top athletes in the East, as well as helped several young developing athletes achieve their best in the sport. Sam brings a level of commitment and a focus on the whole athlete that both athletes and parents agree is in a class of its own. I've worked with Sam for years and value his approach to coaching."

SMS Headmaster Chris Kaltsas said, "We are fortunate to have Sam joining us as the head freestyle coach this next year. His ability to manage and move athletes, as well as his experience in marketing will serve the program well as we look to grow."
