SOUTH BURLINGTON - South Burlington scored the final seven goals unanswered as they beat Burr and Burton Academy 19-7 in girls lacrosse on Monday.

With nine minutes left, the Bulldogs (2-1) were down 12-7, but couldn't contain the Rebels' attack.

Katy Jones and Kate Montague led BBA with two goals apiece, while Morgan Bazyk, Haley Sabol and Mary Leech added a single tally. Lauren MacKenzie and Casey Apps combined for six saves.

BBA falls to Green Mtn.

CHESTER - Burr and Burton Academy scored five runs in the first two innings but were blanked the rest of the way in a 7-5 loss to Green Mountain in softball.

Steph Knockenhover earned the win for the Chieftains, allowing six hits and striking out seven. Caitlyn Arellano took the loss for the 0-3 Bulldogs. Libby Merrill was 2-for-4 at the plate with a double, while Meghan Kardas drove in two runs with a triple.

Consistent Bulldogs win at Neshobe

BRANDON - The Burr and Burton Academy golf team showed its consistency on Monday as the Bulldogs topped Poultney and Otter Valley.

Joey Shehadi led the way with a 40, followed closely by Drew Herbert's 41, Kyle Boucher's 42 and Hunter Caler's 43.

BBA hosts Fair Haven, Mill River and Otter Valley on Wednesday at Manchester Country Club.

Shires marathon

BENNINGTON - The third annual 'Shires of Vermont Marathon,' a classic point-to-point 26.2 mile road race connecting the southern Vermont towns of Bennington and Manchester, is accepting registrations for the race on May 19. Race applications and online registration are available at www.shiresofvermontmarathon.com. The race is organized by the Batten Kill Valley Runners to benefit community mental health and developmental services.

Runners from about 30 different states and foreign countries love the course, which will be the same this year as before. It starts at The Bennington Center for the Arts and finishes at Hildene Meadows in Manchester.

Anyone interested in helping to put on a very popular, large event is welcome to join the organizing committee, which meets monthly.
