Coach: Dave Miceli (13th season)

Last year: 13-5, lost in the semi-finals to Rice Memorial High School.

The team: Despite losing leading scorer Brooke Sabol, Charlotte Palmer, Maggie Schroeder, and Michelle Kelly - all of whom had been playing on the varsity team since they were freshman - as well as Jessica Merrill and goalie Kelsey Towslee, Miceli likes the look of this year's BBA girls' lacrosse team.

"It's a very athletic group. We've got a ton of speed this year and that's pretty well distributed throughout the team," said Miceli. "Usually you hope to have two or three fast girls this year we've probably got seven or eight girls who are at what I think of as the elite fast level.

In addition to the speed of this year's team, Miceli said situational lacrosse will help this year's team be successful.

"That's one of the things I think we've done well as a program. These girls particulary have a high lacrosse IQ," said Miceli. "Depending on the time and the score there are different styles of lacrosse we're going to play. Depending on the position on the field there are different things we're trying to do and the great thing about leadership we have, the self sufficiency with the girls, is that they develop an understanding for when that's suppose to take place and what's suppose to happen."

Miceli continued to say that his players' understanding of the game is like "having coaches on the field" and their ability to know when to score a goal and when to slow things down is valuable.

This year's team also benefits from strong senior leadership from Cara Corvino and Kate Montague as well as Rory Halligan and Jennifer Dorr. In addition, Morgan Crabtree - who transferred to Burr and Burton last year - is senior who Miceli described as "great athlete" and somebody who "leads by example."

"They're providing great leadership. They're running the core workout right now," Miceli said during practice on Tuesday. "They ran our agilities. Every day they run the agilities. They're in charge of conditioning and they're pushing the girls and it's great because it makes it feel like this is something that the team wants versus this is something coach is making you do."

In addition to the seniors, junior Catherine Apps and sophomore Lauren MacKenzie will serve as the team's goalies. Dorr, juniors Lauren Miskovsky, Kathryn Jones, Mary Leech and sophomores Megan Grabher and Lucille Bisselle will serve as attackers for the Bulldogs. Halligan, Corvino, and Montague will play midfield along with juniors Morgan Bazyk Caroline Kepler and sophomore Hayley Sabol. Defensemen for the team are Crabtree, juniors Ryder Ferrone, Hannah Gianotti, Magnolia Penkoff, Devon Thiele, Brinn Dilworth, Brianna Brockett and sophomore Caitlin Merrill.

Opener: Friday, April 12, at Hartford.
