This is a travel league that will require a commitment from both players and families. Games in this league are typically played on Wednesdays and Sundays with occasional Friday night games. Since Manchester is somewhat out of the region where most of the teams in the league come from, it is unlikely there will be any Wednesday home games. As a result, there will be quite a few double headers on Sundays.
The season begins with with a Memorial Day tournament and ends in early July.
The teams hail from all over the capital district. Everyone is encouraged to check out the website Empire State Baseball League.
A goal of the new program is to increase the competitive experience for players aging out of the Manchester Youth Baseball program. Sports make a great platform for teaching kids the rewards of a focused effort and a dedicated commitment.
Manchester Youth Baseball is looking for the best twelve players to make up the team and compete in the new program.
Kids will be chosen based upon skill, attitude and effort and playing time will be determined using the same evaluation. There will be a formal tryout process with the dates and times listed below.
The season starts in May and ends in early July.
Players must be 13 years old and not turn 14 before May 1. Tryouts will be March 23 and 24 from 9:30 a.m. until 12 p.m. at Riley Rink. Tryouts will be conducted by the head coach and independent evaluators.
