The meeting was the third between the two teams - each of which Arlington (9-5) has won.
The Rebels (6-9) stuck with the Eagles at the beginning, trailing 15-11 at the end of the first quarter. The Rebels were powered by freshman forward Lindsey Vachon who scored nine of her 11 points in the first period.
"She always comes to play," said Leland & Gray coach Gregg Morrow of Vachon.
Arlington began to separate themselves in the second quarter though as their defense forced the Rebels to turn the ball over seven times in the quarter. "Defense turned into some offense. That's what keeps the ship going for us is our defense," said Arlington coach Larry Andrews. "We've got to make up for the lack of height somewhere and it's hustle and heart. They come out and they get after it."
Arlington guard Molly Elwell hit a 3-pointer with about three minutes left to play in the half to put Arlington up 23-13. Leland and Gray senior center Alex Morrow put one off the glass underneath the next possession down the floor, but Eagles senior guard Jennah Lacoste - who had 8 points and seven rebounds on the night - answered with a 3-pointer to put Arlington up 11.
After Leland & Gray sophomore forward Haley Buffum hit a 3-pointer to cut the deficit back to eight, Arlington's Julia Lacoste scored on a nice up and under move to put the Eagles on top 28-18 at the half.
The Rebels were stagnant in the third period though scoring just four points to the Eagles 11.
The Rebels had a hard time stopping the Eagle offense, particularly in the second half when they outscored the Rebels 19-8.
Three-pointers helped Arlington throughout the night as they hit seven to Leland & Gray's one.
"This is the third time we've played them. We know them inside and out. They're a great outside shooting team," said Morrow. "We came out first with a shadow defense. [We] tried to shadow Elwell and shut her down, but then Sherman and the other girl (Julia Lacoste) killed us."
Julia Lacoste led all scorers on the night with 16 points and also grabbed five boards for the Eagles. Elwell had 12 points and Sherman 11 in the win. For Leland and Gray, Buffum contributed seven points and junior forward Elizabeth Gallup had six.
