MANCHESTER - Rutland answered Burr and Burton Academy's early go-ahead goal with five of its own en route to taking home a 7-2 win in boys hockey on Saturday night at Riley Rink.

"We weren't ready to go and Rutland kept coming at us all night," BBA coach Cory Herrington said. "It was nice to get that first goal but it was totally different after that."

The Bulldogs (1-1), playing without last year's top scorer in Sean Paradis, jumped in front less than four minutes into the contest when sophomore Nate Eisenman finished Andrew Filippi's feed from the right boards. Elijah Brown also assisted the score.

The Metro Division Raiders (1-0) then poured on five goals in a 10 minute span, taking a 5-1 lead with 13:35 left in the second period. BBA's Brock Pollard stemmed the tide with his second-period wrister off a Henry Buckley assist.

Rutland scored again late in the second and third periods to complete the win. Max Major led the Raiders with two goals. Nico Roy offered three assists.

BBA goaltender Zack Stewart finished with 45 saves while Jason MacFarlane stopped eight shots for Rutland.
