Brandmeyer ran the 5K race in 16 minutes, 37 seconds, a second behind winner Daniel Grosvenor of Montpelier.
"Marc led most of the race and [Grosvenor] passed [Brandmeyer] on the downhill and just outkicked him at the end," said MAU coach Jim Dulin.
Brandmeyer led the team's 11th place finish. Luke Johnas was second for MAU, 55th overall, in 18:30. Caleb Cohen was next in 18:48 and Andrew Brandmeyer was 100th overall at 18:56. Zach Redden rounded out the Patriots' scoring with a 19:05. More than 760 runners competed.
Burr and Burton Academy was 37th as a team. Thomas Kittross was the highest Bulldog finisher, 139th, in 19:23.
On the girls side, Champlain Valley Union's Taylor Spillane defended her 2011 victory. Locally, freshman Erica Hale was the top finisher for the Patriots who finished 15th as a team. Hale crossed the line 51st overall in 22:16. Erin Anderson was second and 84th overall in 22:52.
Emily Smith was third in 23:48, Kinsey Boudreau fourth in 24:09 and Kate Ahearn rounded out the scoring with her time of 24:25.
BBA finished 34th as a team, led by Abby Lord's 122nd place result (23:32).
