"NSK provides the equipment. All children receive free soccer balls, team t-shirts, instruction, and snacks," Head Start Director Betsy Rathbun-Gunn said. "It's great fun for the kids and hopefully sparks a lifelong interest in the sport."
The 11th Annual NSK Head Start Soccer Clinic begins this year on Sept. 29 and continues on Oct. 3, 10 and 13, at middle Willow Park in Bennington. Saturdays will be from 9-10 a.m. and Wednesdays will be from 4:30-5:30 p.m. Preschool-age children from any part of the community are eligible to participate, but places are limited.
"Kids and soccer are made for each other," President Bill Berry of NSK Steering Systems America said. "NSK is happy to help create something fun and positive. Everyone knows that preschoolers have plenty of energy and chasing a soccer ball is a great experience."
Sporting activities offer many benefits, including the development of sports aptitude, team play, and self-confidence. Children develop many positive skills at the Head Start Soccer Clinic.
