MANCHESTER - "Hava Nagila" is played at Jewish weddings and Bar/Bat Mitzvahs around the world. Discover the history and lore behind this traditional wedding chair dance when the documentary "Hava Nagila" kicks off Israel Congregation of Manchester's International Jewish Film Festival at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 8.

With rave reviews from film festivals coast- to-coast, "Hava Nagila" reveals the power of one song to express and sustain identity, transmit lessons across generations, bridge cultural divides, and connect people on a universal level.

In addition to tracing the song's historical roots, the film offers rare flashbacks of this joyous melody in a startling variety of movies and TV shows - plus on countless cover recordings by, and interviews with, such diverse artists as Harry Belafonte, Connie Francis, Glen Campbell, and Regina Spektor.

In addition, attendees can get in on the action with Robin Bass who will teach Israeli dances at the film's conclusion.

For an afternoon of lively, nostalgic, and informative entertainment, attend this special screening and dance opportunity. Admission is by free-will donation.
