On March 4, 2014, the Danby voters will have the opportunity to choose some great people to continue their service with the Select Board. Bill Gormley is running for the 2 year position and already has two year's experience on the Board. He volunteered to act as road commissioner and is working effectively with the road crew on both road and vehicle maintenance and computerization of the Road Department records. Bill has attended several seminars, including Better Back Roads, and group discussions with other towns on road maintenance. You might also have noticed the new trash and recycle compactors and less mud! Thanks to Bill for doing the initial research and following through with other board members. It looks great!
Hope Blucher is running for the rest of a 3 year position, which she has been appointed to after the resignation of a member. It would be in the town's best interest to keep Hope in the 3 year position, as she has contributed much. Hope has lived in Danby for over 40 years and is a retired attorney. She asks probing and insightful questions about board financial matters such as when formulating a budget. Hope brings a totally different outlook to the Board from her long career as a lawyer.
She currently chairs the Policies and Procedures committee which is in the early stages of putting on paper the guidelines for the various positions needed to run the business of the Town.
Bill Gormley (running 2 year position) and Hope Blucher (running to complete 3 year term) are hardworking, valuable members of the Danby Select Board. Please support them on March 4, election day.
