About two years ago we decided to move to Manchester. Our decision was based in very large part on the excellent reputation of the Burr and Burton school and, in particular, the impressive strength of it's recent academic performance and institutional initiatives. Needless to say, we were shocked and concerned when we learned of the serious allegations levied against the school's financial management at the Town Meeting. We were also very happy, and satisfied, to see the rapid, powerful, and detailed response from the school's Board of Trustees. For us, perhaps the most compelling statement in the Board's response letter was that the Headmaster's salary is, "$60,000 below the average. . . . and $300,000 below upper end salaries." My gosh, give the man a raise!
