The Sunderland Planning board publicly issues this statement of our support for the proposed Town Hall project being submitted to the voters of Sunderland this March. Like a select board, a planning board makes policy decisions, some of which chart the future of its community.
A committee of volunteers in concert with registered architects and professional engineers spent over two years analyzing options regarding space requirements and weighing the costs associated with various building systems. We believe the recommendation of the building committee, which the select board has accepted, best addresses the issues which should be considered.
Provide appropriate secure vault space for financial records to allow
Provide a permanent location for town business to be transacted by the town clerk and treasurer, the select board, planning and zoning boards, and listers, the zoning administrator, emergency management coordinator and committees and organizations furthering the development of a better Sunderland.
Provide a design which is appropriate for the region and will appeal over the long term.
Allow space to accommodate growth in Sunderland.
The proposed facility will serve the residents of the town of Sunderland for many years to come.
Please join us in supporting this measure at Town Meeting this March.
