I join law enforcement officers, victim advocates, firefighters, mayors, state employees, legislative leaders and working Vermont men and women to support the candidacy of T.J. Donovan for Attorney General.
Why such a diversity of supporters? Because Vermonters hear the clear and decisive voice of Donovan proclaiming leadership for the office of our chief law enforcement officer; and see his record of leadership as the Chittenden County State's Attorney for the past six years.
It is time for a change, and Donovan's election will result in an organized, considered and coordinated statewide campaign to achieve thoughtful goals for law enforcement, public safety and justice for all.
From 1996 to 2000 I served as chair of the committee on Judiciary in the House of Representatives. During that period and to this day, Senator Richard Sears of Bennington served as chair of the Senate Committee on Judiciary. Dick is a singularly able and independent public servant. He knows the present state of the leadership in law enforcement in the State, and his judgment can be relied on. His endorsement of T. J. Donovan reflects the wisdom and experience that informs my judgment.
Donovan has a voice and a heart in the tradition of Vermont Democrats from the time of his grandfather (Democratic candidate for Governor and Federal Judge) Bernard J. Leddy, a voice and heart for justice and compassion, a voice and heart of a leader we need as our Attorney General.
