MANCHESTER - The Southern Vermont Arts Center will begin the 2014 season with its 22nd Annual Winter Members Exhibition and solo exhibits by Robert Moylan, Elizabeth Nagle and Gyula Varosy. The Winter Members Exhibition will offer a diverse display of original paintings, sculpture, photography and mixed media pieces by SVAC's artist members, all available for sale. Moylan, Nagle and Varosy represent a wide range of both style and media. Varosy is a sculptor of wood, bronze and steel who combines human shapes with other objects to present individual worlds of imagination and surreal moments. Elizabeth Nagle takes her drawings and collage on canvas, paper and wood and creates windows into other places where one encounters personal and universal images; some images are made clear and others left to linger mysteriously.
"Cornfield with Bald Mountain" (Robert Moylan)
Moylan paints brightly colored panoramic landscapes which celebrate the rural beauty of eastern New York. With intricate detail he shows us luminous sunsets and dramatic skies over vast fields and farmhouses.
A free public reception will take place on Saturday, Jan. 11th from 2 - 4 p.m. in Yester House. The exhibits will be on display through Feb. 23.
Yester House is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 to 5 p.m. and Sundays from noon to 5 p.m. and is free of charge.
