WALLINGFORD — Mary Margaret "Peggy" Rice, 77, a resident of North Main Street in Wallingford, passed away peacefully Wednesday evening, Jan. 20, 2010 at Rutland Regional Medical Center after a valiant battle with lung cancer. Peggy was born in Elizabeth N.J. on Sept. 19, 1932. Peggy resided and worked in New Jersey until her retirement in 2003 when she moved to Vermont, residing on North Main Street in Wallingford for the past seven years. Peggy was a board member of the Southwest Vermont Council on Aging where she was active in planning and implementing monthly trips for Elders on the Go. She was also a Gilbert Hart Library book club member and a member of the whist card group also at the Gilbert Hart Library. Peggy was active in many other local and regional organizations and attended the First Congregational Church of Wallingford and the Mendon Community Church.

Peggy is survived by her cousins Janet Kleinberg of Manchester Center, Elizabeth Kleinberg of Shelburne, and Ethan Kleinberg of New Providence, N.J. She will be missed and her memory will be cherished by her family, her many friends and loved ones. At the request of the family there will be no formal funeral services.
