There was Dancin' in the Streets by young and the not-so-young-but-far-from-old at Friday's street fair to music by The Prescriptions, a band from Shaftsbury.

MANCHESTER CENTER >> The first of two free summer streetfests took place on Friday, June 17. Highlighting the evening's festivities were the Prescription and a pickleball demonstration by Ivo Ljubibratic of the Equinox. The event is a benefit for the Manchester Rescue Squad.

Joining the festivities will be arts and crafts activities for kids with the Downtown School and Stacy Gates of the Manchester Arts Studio and Gallery and sleight-of-hand magician, Doug Eash who told stories with a deck of cards. Long Trail School students threw pottery bowls in anticipation of their Empty Bowls event this year. Local artisans were on hand displaying their handmade work and non-profits will update fairgoers with their progress on community initiatives.

The event is the first of two this summer presented by the Town of Manchester. the next one is scheduled for Friday, July 15.
