PAWLET - The Pawlet Public Library is honored to have Douglas (Doug) J. Baker, author and speaker on Thursday, May 15, 7 p.m. The library is located across from the Pawlet Town Hall, 141 School Street, Pawlet. All are invited. Light refreshments will be served. This progrm will not only be of interest to adults, but children as well. A free not to be missed program.

Baker was born and raised around Whitehall and Granville, N.Y. His parents were farmers and stewards of the land. The Baker's like many others with large families augmented their income by "working out." Doug and wife Lillian spent much of their life in Vermont.

Baker spent four years in the Vermont House (1975-1978), and eight years in the Vermont Senate (1982-1990).

Baker tells it the way it was in the beginning in 1636. He writes and talks about what he knows. He will express the farmer's love for the land and the journeys they took in setting up their farms and towns. In his poetry, you will see memories of growing up on the farm, helping folks where he could and raising a family.
