WEST RUTLAND — NeighborWorks of Western Vermont, a non profit housing organization, is offering a Homebuyer Education workshop at the Bennington Free Library on Thursday, May 15 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The workshop is for anyone who is thinking about buying their first home, or just wants to know more about the home buying process.

The class, taught by NeighborWorks' housing councilor Kim Bina, will walk participants through the process of purchasing a home. Topics covered include budgeting for homeownership, repairing credit, and assessing your readiness to buy. Participants also learn about grant availability for closing cost assistance, and special mortgage products. Expert guest speakers also talk to the class.

Participants are entitled to a free follow-up one-on-one counseling appointment to personally assess your credit report.

The workshop fee is $50 per person or $60 per couple; which includes a workbook, informational materials, and credit report.
