MANCHESTER — While spring may have already arrived in the Green Mountains, the votes have yet to be cast to determine "Who is our Most Influential First Lady?" Closure is close at hand however, as Hildene concludes its Winter History Series on Wednesday, May 14 at the Welcome Center. Williams College professor and author, Susan Dunn makes the case for the final candidate nominated for the distinction, Eleanor Roosevelt. Roosevelt's competition to date includes Jackie Kennedy, Grace Coolidge, Mary Todd Lincoln and Abigail Adams. As with past series that focused on "Greatest Presidents" and "Least Influential Presidents," the first ladies must have resided in the White House prior to 1968.

The presentation is at 7 p.m. and includes a 45 minute talk with 30 minutes available for questions and discussion. The event is free and open to the public. At the conclusion of this last lecture in the series, ballots will be available for members of the audience to rank their choice for the top honor. Results will be announced.

This series is co-sponsored by the University of Vermont. Hildene's Museum Store will be open for a cup of coffee and a snack before the event and
