DANBY - On Sept.13, Vermont State Police detectives along with members of the State Police Human Remain Detection K-9s searched the area along the roadside of Danby Hill Road in Danby where a skull was found on Feb. 12, 2012. Nothing of significance was located or collected during yesterday's search. A search of the area was also conducted at the time of the initial discovery, in February, but due to frost was not successful in locating any indication of more remains. Yesterday was a continuation of that initial search, under more favorable conditions.

After thorough examination by anthropologists with University of North Texas, the skull is reported to be that of a female between the ages of 21and 40 who would have presented as Asian descent. DNA analysis is under way, however due to the deterioration of the skull, identification may prove difficult and could take a significant amount of time.

Detectives with the Vermont State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation will continue their efforts using any and all available investigative methods to bring the case to a resolution and, hopefully, to find closure for the victim and their family.

Anyone with information please contact Det. Sgt. Helaine Gaiotti VSP Shaftsbury, 802-442-5421.
