Although caretakers for both properties discovered the burglaries during the afternoon hours of Sept. 9, police believe the crimes occurred during the evening hours on Sept. 8. An investigation has revealed several neighbors reported suspicious activity such as hearing glass breaking, hearing loud bangs and possibly seeing flashlights inside one of the residences. None of this activity was reported at the time to the State Police. This activity was witnessed between 9-10 p.m.on Sept. 8 at which time the area was without electrical power which had been lost as a storm traveled through the area.
Items reported missing at this time include a Panasonic stereo system from one of the residences and an assortment of Sterling silver items valued at approximately $9,000 from the other. At this time it is unclear if the burglaries are related to several others that have occurred in the area of Dorset village over the past several weeks.
