To accelerate the construction schedule, Schultz crews and many of the project's subcontractors will be working Sunday - Thursday nights this week.

Drainage installations will continue along Main and Bonnet Streets. The sewer project on Depot hit a significant amount of bedrock last week with employees anticipating additional deposits going forward. As a result, there may be noise as the excavators remove the material. Curb and sidewalk work on Main Street will continue. To enhance the new plantings set for the east side of Main Street, urban mass, a structural planting soil will be added. The material is designed to assist in the growth of the new specimens by strengthening the trees' root system and adding nutrients.

On Monday, Aug. 13 FairPoint Communications will pull out old cables across the bridge from manholes on sidewalks at the Gap and First Baptist Church. Beginning Tuesday, Aug. 14 at 7 a.m. the utility will begin to finish conduit work, cement the remaining conduits and fill in and remove the metal plates at the gas station and in the Hand/Bookstore area. This will cause a slight disruption to traffic; traffic control and sheriffs will be at each location.

Later on in the week, FairPoint will start replacing conduit on the sidewalk from Bonnet Street to the manhole on the sidewalk in front of the church. Work splicing cables at Wyman Lane, on Main at the Sunoco station and Cottage Street is ongoing.
