ALBANY, N.Y. - Burr and Burton Academy senior Kya Davis, a McDonald's restaurant employee at 188 Depot Street in Manchester, was recently awarded a $2,500 McDonald's National Employee Scholarship Award. Davis is among several McDonald's restaurant employees nationwide selected to receive this honor for outstanding employee contributions, scholastic achievements and community involvement.

"McDonald's continues to provide me with opportunities to learn and grow," said Davis. "This restaurant offers flexible hours, which allows me to work my schedule around my academic and other responsibilities. I love how our crew is like one big family. The support I get from everyone has been amazing."

Davis, who joined McDonald's in 2011, is currently a crew trainer. Her face is one of the first faces of McDonald's that new hires see. She's also active outside of work. Davis currently plays on her school's softball team and has been involved in theater, field hockey and SADD. She plans to attend Becker College in Worcester, Mass., this fall to major in design and pursue a career in graphic design. Charles Coughlin, Owner/Operator of McDonald's in Manchester, recommended Davis for the scholarship.

"I have had the pleasure of training and working with Kya. She is a considerate, patient and genuinely kind young lady," said Coughlin. "I am very proud of Kya and her commitment to McDonalds."
