MANCHESTER - Squids. Science. Calamari. In that order! Fifth graders in Ms. Lisa Edry's science class at Maple Street School dissected squid as part of their study of invertebrate animals. Many scientists study squid to discover more about their giant relatives who, until the last couple of weeks, have rarely been found or even seen in the wild. Students watched with excitement the first video footage by Discovery Channel showing the giant squid in its natural habitat.

"I was able to spell my whole name using the ink from the squid. It was cool and gross at the same time!" stated one eager scientist. The students ended their study feasting on some fresh cooked calamari thanks to parent volunteers Darrin Senecal and John Bowen. Ms. Edry's fifth grade scientists wish to thank Earth and Sea Market for generously donating the squid.

Maple Street School is an independent day school serving children in grades Kindergarten through eighth grade. For more information about the school, please call Admissions Director Jeff Barclay at (802) 362-7137 or visit on the web at www.maplestreetschool.com.
