"I was elated when I heard the news that I was elected, it is certainly on honor. I look forward to serving the University of Vermont, it is certainly a preeminent institution in our state and I am very honored," Wilson said.
Wilson will be serving a six-year term that will take him through 2018. His term will start this upcoming March.
"The term starts March 1 and they hold quarterly meetings. I believe there will be an orientation sometime in March for new trustees," he said. "I thought it would be a great public service oriented opportunity to give back a little bit to the state I love and I intend on serving for a long time. I am certainly looking forward to this wonderful opportunity."
Jeff Wilson is currently the Vermont State Representative for the Bennington 4 District which includes the towns of Manchester, Arlington, Sandgate and Sunderland. He has been a member of the House of Representatives since 2009 and is currently on the Vermont Ways and Means Committee. Prior to becoming a State Representative, Wilson served as the Town of Manchester's Town Manager from 1986 to 2003.
The University of Vermont, located in Burlington, is home to over 10,000 undergraduates, over 1,400 graduate students, over 400 medical students and nearly 1,500 full and part time faculty and staff.
