BENNINGTON - Southwestern Vermont Medical Center will be doing a campus improvement project over the next few weekends that will temporarily close the hospital's Dewey Street entrance and alter traffic patterns on campus.

SVMC will be paving their driveway from the Dewey Street entrance up to an area past the Toolan Building from 6 a. m. to 7 p. m. on Sept. 8 and 9 and Sept. 15 and 16. Traffic may also be affected the weekend of Sept. 22 and 23 if work is still being completed.

Patients, visitors, and employees are asked to use the entrance on Monument Avenue for access to the SVMC campus during the hours above. In addition, the following parking lots will be unavailable for parking from 10 p.m.

Friday to 7 p. m. Sunday, Sept. 7 through 9; Sept. 14 through 16; and possibly Sept. 21 through 23: the Medical Staff/Renal Services parking lot on the east side of the campus by the flag pole; the parking lot closest to United Counseling Services; the small parking lot below the mobile MRI unit; and the lots available for parking in front of and on the side of the Toolan Building.

The Bennington Police Department will be on hand to direct traffic and offer assistance. SVMC will post updates on the status of the project and the availability of the Dewey Street entrance on its Facebook page.
