Support Relay for Life
If you had the ability to create a world with more birthdays, would you do it? The American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Bennington County will begin its 12-hour event at noon on Saturday, June 24, 2017, and end at midnight to support the fight for a cancer-free world.
Did you know that there are over 3000 survivors in Bennington County? That's a LOT of birthdays to celebrate, but it's not enough. If you have a loved one who has cancer, you know that you want them to celebrate more birthdays, right? That's why we need you. You understand. You want a cure. You can help.
Relay For Life of Bennington County is currently seeking volunteers to join the Event Leadership Team and get in on the planning and preparation for pre-event fundraisers, as well as the main event. The ELT is also looking for volunteers to help out on a smaller scale throughout the year with tasks such as making phone calls, working at a booth or table, baking, etc.
Relay For Life of Bennington County will bring our neighbors and community together to honor individuals who have fought bravely against the merciless disease of cancer. Survivors, their families, and all those who have been affected by this disease are invited to come together to walk (or run) to create a united network of support and dedication.
Our Relay begins with a Survivor Lap, an inspiring time where survivors are honored by participants in support of their incredible fight. One of the most memorable events during the night is the Luminaria Ceremony, where everyone has the opportunity to light candles and take a moment to honor those who have beat the disease, those who are still fighting, and those who have courageously fought but have lost their lives to cancer.
Funds raised at Relay For Life support research, programs, and services for patients and their families in Bennington County and nationwide. The American Cancer Society's Look Good Feel Better, Road to Recovery, Hope Lodge, Reach to Recovery, and the National Cancer Information Center (1-800-227-2345 is the number to call 24/7/365) are just some of the programs the American Cancer Society provides.
You may have heard people talking about how the funds raised for Relay For Life of Bennington County don't all stay local. That's true. We all know people who live outside of our area, and we all know that people in other areas get cancer. We are raising money to fund programs to help cancer patients and research to find a cure for all cancers everywhere, so everywhere can celebrate more birthdays. It sounds like a great idea to us!
For more information about our Relay event or how you can become involved, contact Stephanie Taylor by calling (802-747-8261) or emailing (email@example.com), or visit relayforlife.org/benningtonvt. Let's come together as a community to add another birthday candle to every birthday cake this year.
