To the Editor:
The Manchester Ranger District of the Green Mountain National Forest would like to thank our friends and partners for making the Twenty-sixth Annual Youth Fishing Derby at Hapgood Pond held on Saturday, June 11 a great success!
Despite the rainy weather, everyone had a great time. Sixty-four kids participated and caught a whopping 183 fish! In the 10 to 12-year-old age group, Orvis rod and reel outfits went to Carson Gordon and Ali Millette for catching the largest fish. The award winners in the 6 to 9-year-old age group were Tanner Alexopoulos and Mollie Millette. In the 5-years-old and under age group, Mark Bano and Marga Camarinta took home prizes for the largest fish. Everyone was treated to hot dogs and Ben and Jerry's ice cream after the final whistle blew.
Special recognition goes to the Southwestern Vermont Chapter of Trout Unlimited. Their cooperation through partnership has made this event possible year after year. We could not do it without them. A sincere thank you!
