Thanks for Spirit of Sharing
On behalf of the Bennington Agency of Human Services Department for Children and Families offices and the Catamount Rotary, I would like to thank to all of the people who made Spirit of Sharing a success again this year. There were many volunteers and businesses who contributed to our efforts to bring holiday cheer to Bennington area families and we could not have done it without every single one of you.
In 2015, local volunteers purchased gifts for 299 children—more than double the number we assisted in 2014. This was an amazing display of generosity. We never imagined we would be able to assist so many families. In addition to the gifts for children, we had people dropping off gift cards to help families buy essentials which they might otherwise struggle to access.
There were too many individuals to thank everyone here personally, although we wish we could. We would like to acknowledge groups from the following businesses who contributed to our efforts: Bank of Bennington, Battenkill Books; Bayada; Bennington College, Office of the President; Anytime Fitness; Bennington ECC; Department for Children and Families, Economic Services Division; Fisk Law & CPA; Greater Heights Tree and Land Management; Green Mountain Oasis; Hannaford's; Hemming Publishers, the Human Services Program at the CDC; Interact Club at Mount Anthony Union HS; Love, Cody & Co.; Southshire Roller Derby; Stram Center; SVC women's soccer; and many units/departments at SVMC, including: Auxiliary, Cardiology, Coding, Corporate Development, and Hospital Information Systems.
I wish I could say that by the end of this year, all of the needs of all the families in our community will be met. If so, we will all rejoice together. However, if that is not the case, I know that we can again count on you to support our neighbors and friends. It is inspiring to see so many people open their hearts to other members of our community. It really does fill one with the Spirit of Sharing.
