To the Editor:
Manchester Community Library recently hosted a fascinating talk, "Charles Dickens and the Writing of "A Christmas Carol," with Barry Deitz," followed by our annual holiday reception. This very special evening was the Library's gift to the community, but it was a gift largely made possible through the generosity of local individuals and businesses.
We are indebted to the event sponsor, Christmas Days. In addition to generously underwriting the program, Christmas Days added a delightful touch to the reception by lending their festive decorating touch. Do yourself a favor, and visit their beautiful showroom during this holiday season. It's an uplifting experience.
Duttons Farm Stand, Equinox Hotel, Mother Myrick's Confectionary, New Morning Natural Foods, The Perfect Wife Restaurant & Tavern, Reluctant Panther Inn & Restaurant, The Silver Fork, Sushi Boat, Taconic Hotel, and Ye Olde Tavern are to be lauded for graciously donating a variety of sweet and savory hors d'oeuvres for the reception. Please support these local businesses who support your public library.
Thanks go out to GNAT-TV for taping the illustrated talk.
We are very grateful to Lu French for lending her graphic design talents in creating beautiful print and online materials to publicize the program.
Last but not least, we'd like to thank Cindy Waters for her coordination to present this program and volunteers Ruth Hoffman, Sharron Kropa, Frank Kropa, Drew Morrison, Dave Pardo, and Dave Quesnel for their assistance with planning and facilitating this event.
