The South Londonderry Free Library The library would like to thank every individual and the local businesses who contributed time, effort, donated items and products to make our annual White Elephant, Book, Plant and Bake Sale a success. For fear of overlooking anyone I am not publishing names, you know who you are and please know that you are much appreciated. Without everyone's combined effort this fund-raiser would not have been as fun.
Currently showing in the Janeway Wing is the artwork of Paul E. Myers. Myers is a self-taught life-long artist with broad interests in all the arts. His eclectic art comprises of paintings, sketches and photos of beau tiful landscapes and landmarks encountered during worldwide travels.
Many of Myers' recent works are nostalgic Vermont scenes revealing a close connection with nature forged through a lifetime of work as a field geologist and many of these works are displayed at this exhibit. This show portrays Paul's versatility with acrylic, oils, pencil, photography and ink and can be viewed during library hours through the end of July.
On July 9 at 2 p.m. there was a children's/family concert with Vermont Troubadour, Stephen Corolla. This performance was a high energy concert of children's songs and stories featuring the theme of science through the ages - in conjunction with the Vermont Department of Libraries summer reading program - Fizz, Boom, Read! Corolla played guitar, flute, hammer dulcimer and hand drums and did an experiment with juggling.
This performance took place at the Londonderry Town Assembly Room, just at the crest of the hill from the library.
