To the Editor:

I am running for the Vermont House of Representatives to serve Dorset, Danby, Mount Tabor, Peru, and Landgrove. I want your vote. I have 13 years of experience in helping to develop and pass responsible education policy. I have the relationships with business leaders, policymakers, and advocates to effectively work to contain costs while improving student outcomes. I will get the job done.

I'm running because we are nearing a crisis with unsustainable taxes for our education system. The most recent reports show Vermont's spending as fifth highest nationally, and yet student achievement could be better. As an advocate and policy consultant, I have led successful bipartisan efforts to improve the status quo in education and will continue to do so with your support.

We are all troubled by the lack of details for the new healthcare system. My husband has been a family doctor in Manchester for 22 years and, over many family dinners, has shared the challenges of healthcare regulations and needless spending. I believe there is tremendous caring and untapped wisdom among doctors, nurses, nurse practitioners, and their staffs. I plan to make sure Vermont's healthcare stays strong.

I'm asking voters who believe that government can be made better - and taxpayer dollars spent smarter - to support my effort. It is an exciting time, full of opportunities and positive energy. I know we can improve the lives of people in our towns and our state, and that we can secure future prosperity and an even stronger democracy.

I hope you'll let me represent you. I'm ready to get to work.
