To The Editor:

As a former member of the Manchester Selectboard, serving for two decades, and a small business owner, the economic well-being of our community has always been important to me. This is why I agreed to devote more time to public service when asked to serve on the town's newly formed marketing committee.

The committee is tasked with developing a cost effective marketing plan to attract new visitors by showcasing all the town has to offer. The town has committed tax dollars to be used cooperatively with Manchester businesses exclusively for this purpose. The committee is made up of local business people who have a good understanding of our target visitor and the financial issues confronting all of us when marketing to an out of state audience.

Although challenging to devote time to this project, I have done so because I believe the effort is vital to the future well-being of Manchester.

Manchester businesses will soon be receiving specific information about the media campaign including an invitation to participate. I urge every business to invest a portion of their marketing dollars to help match the tax dollars that the town is providing so we can implement an effective and sustained awareness campaign that will bring more visitors to our community.

All of us on the committee look forward to this partnership to help make Manchester the best it can be.
