To the Editor:

I am not against having a library in Manchester. I am against building one that is costing $6.6 million. I feel it is too extravagant. There is much duplication to rooms and services that we already have in Manchester. To my knowledge, from their brochure, it is not completely paid for, lacking $4.1 million. Building a structure is one thing, maintaining it is another. I do hope the library is using foresight in this area. I also hope that their request is not going to grow each year. It would be wonderful to hear that someone whose philanthropy is libraries has stepped up to the plate and is going to help the library out.

I admire and appreciate the hard work and effort put forth by Betsy Bleakie, Linda McKeever and the board of trustees. Good luck in fundraising.
