To The Editor:

On behalf of the Northshire Library Media Consortium, I wanted to thank the Vermont Country Store for the donation of a computer server to replace our dated 2007 server.

The Manchester libraries combined their collections into one database in 2007, to become a Virtual Library with 24/7 access. As time passed, it became more obvious to the Consortium that we would need to look into purchasing a newer server, as the one we had could not accommodate our needs.

Last year was the tipping point. We were faced with a new software update that needed a much newer server. We were at a standstill. All three libraries knew we had to do something.

School libraries have limited budgets for books, but no additional money for hardware. The public library is in the process of raising money for a new building and all their resources are being used for that.

The Vermont Country Store stepped forward to offer us one of their servers that was no longer being used. We were thrilled.

This saved the Consortium considerable money. The Vermont Country Store has always been a great supporter of the community. This is another example. This server has allowed increased functionality for all library users. In particular, we would like to thank Eric Rose, an employee of the Vermont Country Store, who facilitated the transition to the new server. We want to thank The Vermont Country Store for their support of our community library system.
