To the Editor:

There can be few people in the Northshire who do not know by now the crisis facing the Manchester cinema, "Village Picture Shows," and its need to raise a significant sum to purchase digital equipment by March 15th or go out of business forever.

Those who are parents should be especially concerned. There are very few places for young people to go out and meet together in an entertaining environment, and the cinema is one of the few. Parents and students in Manchester, Dorset, Rupert, Pawlet, Sunderland, and Arlington should all give something towards this achievable fund-raising goal.

And local residents and businesses too. We can pledge on for Village Picture Shows, or drop off a check at the Manchester Chamber of Commerce, 39 Bonnet Street.

You won't know how much you will miss it until it's gone.
