It is easy for me to take things for granted, which is not a good habit. So in the spirit of the season I would like to publically appreciate the Manchester & the Mountains Chamber of Commerce and Berta Maginniss, the Executive Director.
For the record, in the past I have sometimes wondered what the Chamber did or how effective it was. I once resigned from the Board due to my lack of confidence. I am very pleased to now hold the Chamber in high esteem. There is no question that my dues dollars are working hard to bring business to town.
Just since the summer Berta and her team orchestrated the move into the beautiful new facility on Bonnet Street, organized Sidewalk Sales, produced Concerts on the Green, helped put on the Mapleleaf Half Marathon and the Win Hoyt Golf Tournament, ran the Fabulous Fall promotion, donned hats for the Witches of Northshire, promoted Restaurant Week, hosted a UK film crew for Discover New England, went to the Annual Meetings of the New England Chamber Executives Annual Meeting and VACCE, and organized the 3rd annual Manchester Merriment festivities. Amidst all that, the Chamber crew had time to write up a proposal to host the Porche Parade here in 2016 which would fill 3,000 room nights in the region.
All these activities, and more I didn't mention, bring visitors to the area to shop, dine and stay. The Chamber fills a vital role in keeping our region vibrant and is worth all of our support.
