To the Editor:

This year the residents of Jamaica, Londonderry, Stratton, Weston, and Winhall will have a clear choice for their next state representative. In my mind, there is no better choice than Tim Goodwin. A number of people have previously highlighted the significant experience and also the positive attributes that Tim possesses. Now I would like to tell you about seeing Tim in action.

The House Committee on Government Operations, which I serve on, spent much of our time working on reapportionment. This once every ten year process looks at the boundaries of the legislative districts. Throughout the process, there were proposals put forward that would have broken up this house district. Ultimately, our committee assembled a plan that kept these towns together, but only after hearing the concerns of people in the area. During the process, Tim and others, made the effort to attend our public hearings in Rutland and Springfield. He spoke passionately about why all these towns should be kept in a single house district, and provided our committee with facts and the historical perspective that proved critical to our decision-making process. This is the kind of determined effort that really makes a difference in Montpelier.

A commitment to going the extra mile is an important attribute of any state representative. But another area where Tim stands out, is his experience as a member of the school board, planning commission, and other government bodies. Tim has

proved that he understands the issues, and knows how to work well with others.

I would strongly encourage the voters of Jamaica, Londonderry, Stratton, Weston, and Winhall to cast a vote for Tim Goodwin for State Representative,

Rep. Dennis Devereux
