To the Editor:

Over the next few years, the Vermont Legislature will continue to face a number of big issues. A soft economy continues to weigh down state revenues, creating significant pressure on our state's budget. Increased education spending and reduced state funding of the same will put additional upward pressure on the property tax. And then there will be the elephant in the room the big five billion dollar or more question of how we pay for the proposed new single-payer healthcare system.

This election, the people of Jamaica, Londonderry, Stratton, Weston, and Winhall have a clear choice for whom they want as their next representative in Montpelier.

Given the sheer magnitude of the fiscal issues facing the Legislature next year, it is critical that we elect someone who truly understands and possesses the skills and experience to be an effective representative to be our voice in addressing the issues.

Tim Goodwin is that person.

Tim is a CPA with long career in government finance. Tim will be a real asset to the Legislature as a whole. But its Tim's longstanding commitment to our community - with years of service on many local boards - that really make Tim stand out as someone who is best positioned to represent our district.

I have known Tim for decades and have full confidence in his abilities as my representative. This election, I hope you will consider casting your ballot for Tim Goodwin.
