Tuesday, Sept. 25 was National Voter Registration Day. For years, September was Voter Registration Month, but in order to place a greater focus on increasing voter participation, it now falls on one day.
In celebration and support of Voter Registration Day, Friends of Emmett Dunbar for State Representative sent volunteers throughout the district this week to make sure our neighbors are registered to vote.
We are so fortunate to live in the United States, to have the rights and freedoms that are not commonplace in many countries across the world. That said, I think it is important that we exercise one of our most fundamental rights, one that is too often taken for granted: the right to vote.
Vermont is unique in that we have a very small population and, subsequently, great access to our elected officials and the political process. You can find us registering voters at the following dates, times and places:
-Saturday, Sept. 29, from 3:30-4:30 p.m. at the Weston Post Office.
-Sunday, Sept. 30, from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Jamaica Farmers Market,
-Sunday, Sept. 30, from 3-6 p.m. at Muleman's Craft Drafts in Rawsonville.
If you can't make it to out to any of these, voter registration forms can be found at The Pantry in South Londonderry, or at any Town Clerk's office, statewide, until Oct. 30.
Remember to vote on Nov. 6.
Emmett Dunbar is a candidate for State Representative in the Windham-Bennington-Windsor District.
