On behalf of community partners Emmy McCusker, Bill Drunsic, and Angela Webster, I would like to thank the following volunteers for their help in collecting the gate admissions, during the six weeks of the Vermont Summer Festival's Horse Show.
The gate crew was a healthy mix of veterans and novices as a new model was tested this year, and four local charities (Community Food Cupboard, Friends of MEMS, Mark Skinner Library, and Second Chance Animal Center) joined forces to share in both supplying the volunteer manpower and benefiting from the gate receipts, with organizational oversight provided by the Mark Skinner Library.
I personally enjoyed working with each group leader, meeting some of their core supporters, learning more about their missions, and then helping to get the word out to the hundreds of spectators at the Horse Show.
What a wonderful collaborative, "all-for-one-and-one-for-all" effort, and from all accounts, a successful first endeavor all around.
We are grateful to the volunteers below - students, parents, teachers, library supporters, board and community members, and folks who simply like to rally around something they believe in - who carved out precious hours during busy summer months to work a shift or two at the gate.
Thank you: Carol Baringer, Pat and Jack Bennett, Carol Berry, Howard Bleakie, Sara Bonthuis, Gail and Donald Brodie, Sally Brown, Dina Campbell, Barbara Comer, Connie Daly, Helen Deeley, Stephen Drunsic,
Special acknowledgement and sincere thanks to Horse Show organizers Dotty and John Ammerman, for once again granting this fundraising opportunity to further benefit our community; and to Ruth Lacey for her encouragement and support.
Thank you again to all the volunteers for your part, as we truly could not have done this without you!
