Since I announced my candidacy for State Representative a few months ago, I have had the pleasure of meeting with hundreds of constituents from all five towns in our legislative district: Jamaica, Londonderry, Stratton, Weston, and Winhall.
While meeting so many people at the start of the campaign has been exciting, it has also been a challenging time for me and my family, with the deteriorating health and recent passing of my mother. On a personal note, I want to thank everyone for their condolences and support over the past few weeks.
One of the things that impressed me so much about Reps. Olsen and Hube was the frequency, content, and quality of their communications to constituents. Both of them harnessed the power of the Internet to bring the Statehouse into our own homes, along with their insightful analysis of the issues, which was always accessible and easy to understand.
I am committing to continue that tradition, starting with this.
Throughout the campaign I will send out periodic email updates, in which I will share some of my thinking on the big issues. But more importantly, I will be seeking your input and your ideas. If I find myself in Montpelier in January, you can expect to hear from me regularly with frequent legislative updates and requests for your input.
Those who know me best know that I am not someone who will stand up on a soap box and make a lot of bold promises or snap judgements. Having grown up on a working
There are a number of big issues that will come into focus this election cycle - at the local, state, and national level - but I would like to know more about the issues that matter most to you. I would invite you to share your thoughts - either by filling out this short survey (click here) or via email. In other news, I have invited my opponent to participate in a candidate forum later in the election cycle. He has accepted my invitation and we are working to finalize the details. A specific date has not been set yet, but it will be sometime in October. I have suggested that the forum be moderated by one of the town moderators from within our legislative district and have reached out to the moderators check on availability. I will let you know once we have finalized the details of this forum.
Key Endorsements
Over the past several months, I have put a lot of time into meeting with people across our five town district, but I have also spent time speaking with a number of current and former legislators - Democrats, Republicans, and Independents - to learn more about the legislative process and the big issues facing Vermont. In addition to learning a great deal about the process and the issues, I have earned the support of a variety of current and former legislators from across the political spectrum, including:
*Rep. Oliver Olsen (our current representative)
*Former Rep. Sam Lloyd (last Democrat to represent our area)
*Former Rep. Mike Bernhardt (Republican from Londonderry)
*Rep. Jeff Wilson (Democrat representing Manchester)
*Rep. Adam Greshin (Independent from Warren)
I'm honored to have the support of these well respected leaders, and I will be working even harder to earn your support and your vote this November! I want to thank you in advance for your engagement in this important election. I would encourage you to contact me at any time.
