To the Editor:
It all started 16 years ago when I moved to Manchester. I started my first job in town at rk Miles. I'm sure you have heard of the "Rat Pack" from the 1950s (Frank, Sammy Jr., etc.) — well, rk Miles had a "Rat Pack" of their own. That's where I met Corey, Mike, Keith and Dale Long.
All of these guys had their own specialty. All four of them treated me good, even though I didn't know much about working in a hardware store. They all taught me the trade. Dale Long, being an EMT, wanted me to get involved with the Manchester Rescue Squad as he knew I'd been a former firefighter. Dale always said to me "good job" or "job well done." He had the patience with me and always took the time to teach me more. I will never forget how special they all were to me. I will always remember Dale's smile as well as his firm handshake. He inspired me with his knowledge of caring and saving people's lives. This month seems to get harder as I have lost people close to me (my mother in 2002, my friends in 2005 and now Dale).
Dale, may you rest in peace my friend, I will never forget you.
