To the Editor:
Dear Firefighters:
On behalf of the students and faculty of Burr and Burton Academy, I want to extend our heartfelt thanks to Manchester's Bravest—the superb fire department that serves this community. This year, Burr and Burton won a record-setting TEN state championships. Every championship was celebrated with a parade led by fire trucks with sirens blazing. Last week, our boys golf, girls tennis and boys lacrosse teams had a combined parade that did not start until after 9 p.m. since we had to await the return of the lacrosse team from Burlington.
Even at this late hour, the firefighters enthusiastically embraced the tradition and led a parade through town that ended at the school. In gratitude, the students lined the street and cheered the firefighters as they drove back down Seminary Avenue—a fitting tribute to the men and women who put their lives on the line to keep us all safe. (P.S. For those of you who don't know, they also serve up a very good breakfast each month at the Firehouse.)
Thanks, with gratitude.
