BENNINGTON >> While it can be difficult to convince students to return to school after the school day is over, many returned to Molly Stark Elementary School on Thursday evening, and brought their families for a night of fun activities.
It was the school's Family Fun Night, and included crafts, games, refreshments, and more for students and parents alike. Volunteer Darcy Oakes and her daughter Tea painted children's faces in the student support center, while fifth grade teacher Timothy McFadden held his stone sale, a school tradition for many years, in the library. Dawn Campbell and Catheen Marcoux of Anytime Fitness led students through a Zumba demonstration in the gym. There was also coloring, spring-themed crafts, and a bean bag toss.
McFadden also had a blacklight set up in a dark closet, with certain luminescent minerals, and students and families took turns checking out those sights. This is McFadden's last year running the stone sale, as he will be retiring at the end of this school year, but other teachers have expressed willingness in keeping the popular activity alive.
Family Fun Night is presented by the Molly Stark Parent Teacher Group.
