Vermont State Police recently responded t the following incidents
Seeking info on thefts
State Police have responded to four thefts in the towns of Arlington and Shaftsbury between March 23 and 24. Someone has been entering unlocked vehicles and homes at night, taking electronic items and cash. The thefts have occurred around Lost Lake Road, Old Depot Road, Red Mountain Road, Tory Lane, and Route 7A.
Anyone with information is asked to call State Police at 802-442-5421 or submit an anonymous tip to www.vtips.info. Tips can also be sent via text to the number 274637 (CRIMES). Use the keyword "VTIPS" followed by the tip.
DUI suspected in crash
On March 22, at 8:25 p.m., State Police responded to a single-vehicle rollover crash on Route 30 in Rupert, near the Pawlet border. Police said the driver, Samantha Fisher, 30, of Windham, was driving a 2008 Toyota Tacoma to a friends house when went off the road, traveled 200 feet before hitting a dirt hump and going airborne for a short distance. Her vehicle landed on its side among some trees. She was able to get out of the car and call for help. She suffered minor cuts and bruises and was cited to appear in Vermont Superior Court for driving under the influence of alcohol. She gave a preliminary breath test showing her blood-alcohol level to be .156 percent.
The Rupert Fire Department and the Granville (N.Y.) Rescue Squad assisted with the scene, along with the Rupert Town Constable.
Readsboro man cited for DUI crash
On March 21, State Police responded to a single-vehicle crash on Tunnel road near Bosley Hill Road in Whitingham at 5:08 a.m. The alleged operator was not at the scene. Police said they identified the driver as John D. Patriacca, 48, of Readsboro. He was cited for driving under the influence of alcohol and is scheduled to appear in Vermont Superior Court on April 5.
Three cited at hotel
On March 19, State Police went the Ladd Brook Inn in Pownal from where Barbara A. Burdick, 40, of Pownal, had called, saying her estranged husband, Eric R. Mirke, 44, of Florence, S.C., was also located and that he needed papers served on him. She said Mirke was there with Trista R. Bliss, 45, also of Florence, S.C., and that Bliss had an active arrest warrant from the State of Vermont.
Police arrived and arrested Bliss on the warrant. They also cited her and Mirke for possession of a controlled substance. They also arrested and charged Burdick with driving under the influence of alcohol. Burdick was released and scheduled to appear in Vermont Superior Court on April 4. Mirke and Bliss were scheduled to appear in the same court on March 21.
