LONDONDERRY >> If you have ever received a cancer diagnosis, you understandably feel isolated and overwhelmed. You may have support from family and friends, but may feel they can't quite understand what you are going through. The number one reason people join a support group is to be with others who are going through what you are experiencing.
On Friday, May 20 at noon, a Cancer Support Group will meet at The Meeting Place at Neighborhood Connections. The aim is to provide a safe place to discuss the physical and emotional issues surrounding a cancer diagnosis; to share fears and goals about the future; to learn from others about practical ways to regain control of your life and to have light-hearted moments with people who may understand what you are feeling. The objective is to meet once a month and eventually include guest speakers on topics such as nutrition, emotional and physical health as well as other educational programs.
There is no need to register for this program. Bring a brown-bag lunch and join others who know what it is to get a diagnosis of cancer. The Meeting Place is located in Londonderry's Mountain Marketplace next to the post office.
